Breaking my heart via note.

Moses has been crying at school.  Not every day, not all the time, but...it seems to have lessened by now but about 3 weeks ago one of his teachers told me she saw him crying at lunch and invited him to stay in for recess to write me/us a note.  They handed the note to me and I worked really hard on controlling my own tears!  "Mom.  I feel sad Mom.  I want you.  I really want to go home and snuggle with you.  Moses."   (Loosely translated, that is...)  He had started a similar note on the back for Dad too, but didn't get to finish.  Snuggles solve everything and you can be sure there have been plenty of them around here =)  I'm glad to hear his sadness seems to be taken over by his zeal for reading everything he can get his hands on in the classroom lately, which is of course plenty!  He is also picking up lots of Spanish from the other students and the teachers.  But I will miss this day when he graduates and goes off to college!  Maybe I will write him a note like this.  "Moses.  I feel sad Mo.  I want you.  I really want you to come home and snuggle me.  Mom."  You never know....

Phinally! More photos!

First of all - today was a beautiful day!  We had a lot of fun outside!  Which, of course, means I took a bunch of pictures....

Super Moses!

Mushroom man, taking after his momma.

So I added warm water to the mini-greenhouse thing, hoping it quickly expand the 'dirt plugs'.  It did.  I laughed rather loudly when I noticed HOW they expanded...anyone else think they look funny?  Like...um...waste products?  ;)

Dave hatched chicks in his classroom again!  So far only 3 have made their grand entrance, and that might be all, but we are enjoying Pip, DeeDee and Lois a lot!

Finally, what would a fun day be w/o goofy pictures of ourselves?!

Family Photo Fun

I love this goofy family!  They look like they are having a lot of fun on vacation...=)!

Sometimes we take pictures w/the camera upside down.  Because we can!*

"Dad, willoopweasecarryme?  Carrymepwease, Daddy?"

*I have never in all my 30+ years owned or worn sunglasses.  They just don't fit me properly!  Apparently, the span from my face to behind my ears is smaller than most adults.  I have tried kids' sizes - to no avail!  But for some reason everyone else in the family was buying new sunglasses for vacation and I felt pressured into getting some.  UV rays, no more squinting, looking so cool...yeah.  I bought some.  They were also too big and fit me crooked, but who cares!  I felt all weird wearing them, I think I even tripped a few times!  And I realized there is like a culture of sunglass wearing.  What do you people do w/them when you are not wearing them??  Dave kept putting his in his shirt collar but I didn't like that.  Then they fell out when I did stuff...at any rate, they are in the drawer right now.  I haven't worn them since.  But I think I will this summer....if it ever gets here!  Vacation was really fun and I promise I didn't obsess about the sunglasses the whole time =)  It's good to be back - minus the freezing temps, of course!  I'm so glad we got to see family and some dear friends!!  I see a return trip in our future...

It's Friday!

And what would Friday be without a few photos?

Want to get rid of the snow in your yard?  Just make a few snowmen!  (We made 6 that day.)
The bigger the better - even life-sized would be great!

There is never a bad time of the year to go to the beach.
Just a mom who is only half prepared for the mudslide on the way down!  (We were wearing our garden boots, but since it was the first 50* day, the path was a RIVER.  Needless to say, we were wearing a little mud before we figured out that the grassy parts were not so slippery!  Oh well, some of us laughed and some of us cried...and one of us loaded the wash machine when we got home...)

I love living in a place where you can go from snowmen to muddy beaches to riding scooters and wearing sunglasses all in one 10 day span!  That is not a typo - I really do love the 4 seasons!  Spring is actually my least favorite, but I since we live in the frozen tundra, I usually get an extended winter anyway.  It's pretty amazing to see things change so many times throughout the year.  I don't think I could live in a place without all 4 seasons.

Photo Friday

I love pictures and there are not nearly enough of them around here lately!  So I'm going to institute Photo Friday!

Moses has been getting into drawing and writing a lot more lately.  I love seeing how his mind works through his art, as well as how he creatively spells things!  This one is pretty sweet -
Kiss + Kiss
Love
Mom and Dad

This is another one of my new favorites - why let the snowpocalypse spoil your swing set fun?
