Workout Wednesday (better know as bike your butt off!)

Today I let DW take the van and biked the kids to and from school. Two roundtrips = 8.4 miles! For Fabi, this is her 2nd time in the Burley trailer and she seems to love it. Thank goodness! She and Mo don't fight as much as Mo and Ayden did. That's not to say that they don't fight at all =) They're still siblings. The weather today was a bit unexpected - after a while of 75-80* temps and pure sunshine, it's cloudy and breezy. Like a real fall day! Hey, I can't complain, the laundry dries in both types of weather! I did write a little about today's workout on the other blog but not much. I didn't write about what I made this Monday b/c it is still a work in progress...but I will brag about my breakfast making skills! Today I managed to whip up some Wilke egg muffins in about 5 mins - totally surprising my hubby! He said, "Don't bother, there won't be time." But in the time it took him to comb his hair (*snicker*) I had one done! I need a breakfast super hero cape! I am so glad it's fall - my attitude has been improving greatly and I don't know why but I feel like I'm getting more done around here...that's a workout in of itself!

She'll be biking around the mountain when she comes...

We'll be doing lots of biking this summer and we plan to share our stories! Some time later in the week go on over and check 'em out. There's not much there now, but we'll add to it as we go. It's my personal goal to ride 100 miles before October. I challenge you to do the same!

Work it! But wear a helmet.

This morning Mo and I needed to go to church, but Dave had the van. (He had his interview w/the county social worker! More on that later...) So we biked! It's only .93 miles according to Mapquest, but whoo! I forgot what it was like to bike w/that trailer attached. Plus, Mo is getting bigger and I'm out of shape. Anyway, I had to go to church again tonight and the boys needed the van, so I biked!! Let's see...that's .93 x 4...equals 3.72 miles!! It felt good! I'm going to add the .28 to the first ride b/c of the trailer. Yeah, I worked that much harder, so I biked 4 miles today! Can you hear the sound of my own hand slapping my own back? I've got pics, but I'll have to add them tomorrow. W/gas prices getting so high, I hope to save a few pennies this summer by biking. How are you planning to save money on gas?

Is it March already??

Hoo Hah. Is anyone else disoriented? Between huge snowbanks and frigid cold (in March, for crying out loud!), daylight savings time and the school year whizzing by, I'm still not sure what's going on. At any rate, we had a good week/weekend! I did 2 workouts (thanks Jason for power walking in the mall!) and we took a Friday adventure to a neighboring burg. It was a little bit of a dud for the kids, but we had a good lunch! I watched some friends' older boy and Mo loved doing things w/him, but hoo hah, it was crazy how they had this evil plan to go in different directions at the library! It was practice for having more than one, I guess. Well, I don't have a lot to talk about today - just a question...we are hoping to have a family night dinner at our house on St. Patrick's Day. Any cool ideas for a green/Irish food? Keep in mind that I don't really cook! K.I.S.S!

Flip!

Today is Monday, but we're flip-flopping stuff due to Thanksgiving. DW and I are going to work out tonight and make bread and pumpkin pie on Weds. Then we're off to Neenah! Everyone will be home and it will be the first holiday w/o Dave's dad. Sorry if that sounded blunt. I guess I'm trying not to think about it too much now, since I know I'll probably be crying about it at some point. Anyway - we are hoping to have a white elephant gift exchange, since not everyone will be at Christmas. I keep thinking I'll find something around here, but I don't want to part w/stuff or it's just dumb and not really all that funny. What's the funniest white elephant gift you ever saw? Did you get to keep it? What did you do w/it? I have a memory of some elephant ashtray or something, but I don't remember when or where that happened.
In other news, we have started to get things in the upstairs bedroom ready for foster care kids. I'm getting excited! Our last class is in 2 weeks!!! We really want to put a pic of the bedrooms in our family album, which is due Dec. 4 - the last class. Did I say I was getting excited? I guess I forgot to say anxious and to say that I'm 'nesting' horribly. Dave didn't get that when I told him that. I keep finding things like our closet that I feel compelled to organize. It's not a bad thing, but it doesn't necessarily get us closer to the foster care goal. Oh well! I'm trying to stay focused...speaking of that, I have some laundry to hang and then I'm headed upstairs! Happy Monday =)

So-o-o Tired!

Well, I have decided to workout on Wednesdays...I rarely work out unless you count running from my car to the mall while carrying a 25 lb kid! Which I don't, and since I've been trying to spend less, I am trying to go to the mall less. Anyway - today I did a few things that I consider to be a workout. On Weds, the leaf-sucker truck comes by, so I thought I was doing great in bundling Moses up and getting outside to rake the leaves. As soon as I stepped off the back stoop, I hear this huge truck...DOH! Missed it. But we raked leaves and needles anyway. Then I power-walked with Mo in the wagon (not heavy) to the grocery store, which is about 7 blocks away. I also tried to power-walk home with Mo and $40 worth of groceries in the wagon (pretty heavy!). After ditching the wagon and getting Mo's piggy bank, we power-walked to the bank, which is about 3 blocks away. Our walk home was much nicer since it's downhill! But yeah, now I am so-o-o tired! Oh well, it felt good! What do you do to workout?
